DISC SPRING :-

(A) Descriptions :- Disc Springs are conical shaped annular disc which are capable of being loaded in the axial direction. Disc springs may be subjected either to constant or to cyclic loading. In application disc springs can be used as single discs, or arranged in stacks. The concept of a disc springs dates from the 1860's when a patent was filed by a M.Belleville, whose name is frequently used to describe this type of component. Modern disc spring have, however, moved away from Belleville's original design, in which the material was relatively thick with only a small amount of conical 'dish'. more..

(B) Specifications :-
(i) DIN 2093 Standard

(C) Technical Info. :- Disc Springs are heat treated by austempering which is considered to be superior to the conventional hardening and tempering process. Austempering offers significant improvements in ductility, hardness and toughness when compared with oil harden and tempering. more..

(D) Applications :- The most common uses for Disc Springs are :-
* Pre-Loading of bearing
* Application of constant roll pressure
* Clutch spring pressure
* Press tool spring return
* Shock absorption
* Safety torque limiter clutch
* Hinge stiffeners
* Clearance take-up
* Static load carrying i.e. locking washer.
